Live Music for Senior Communities
“Play something we all know!”
Warm voices, real connection with Ehlert P. Lassen.
For more than a decade, Ehlert P. Lassen has performed familiar acoustic music for senior groups – first in California, and now in Union County, North Carolina.
Since moving to Monroe, he has continued that work with local senior communities, assisted living and memory care groups, the Council on Aging Next Door Clubhouse program, and Union County Senior Nutrition Program sites. The program is built around songs residents recognize – classic sing-alongs, pop and country favorites, hymns, patriotic songs, and seasonal selections.
The goal is simple: familiar music, comfortable volume, and a room where residents feel invited to join in.

About
I’m Ehlert P. Lassen, a local solo singer and guitarist who has specialized in performing for seniors for over ten years. I play at memory care, assisted living, Council on Aging programs, and Union County Senior Nutrition sites. Once a group gets to know me and the songs, something special happens. You can feel the energy in the room shift as the music begins. Regulars join in immediately. Newer residents sense the familiarity and join right in with them. Soon the performances feel less like a show and more like a shared gathering.
With more than 100 songs chosen specifically for mature audiences, I rotate many of them while keeping a core of favorites the room already knows and loves. I also adjust the set for the seasons, especially for Christmas.
For smaller groups and venues I play entirely unplugged. For larger spaces I bring my own professional PA system so everyone can hear clearly and comfortably.
What Residents Experience
- 45–90 minute interactive programs built around songs residents recognize
- Classic sing-alongs, golden oldies, country favorites, hymns, and standards
- Patriotic songs available, often used as a closing moment
- Seasonal programs, including Christmas selections
- Unplugged option for small rooms; PA system available for larger spaces
- Strongest results with recurring visits, when residents begin to know the songs and routine
After several visits, residents often begin singing as soon as the first chord is struck. That shared energy is what makes recurring music especially meaningful.
